Due to God’s wrath, a freak April snowstorm has kept us from being able to get into the Spiegel and have our cue-to-cue tonight. The University was shut down today at 3pm and the Provost will not allow us to get into the space. On top of that, the Department Chair still has to see Sarah N’s Burlesque show, and seeing how no one will be allowed into the Spiegel Theater tonight, her show has to be pushed back until tomorrow. This further complicates the situation and leaves us with only one dress rehearsal on Wednesday after we move our cue to cue to tomorrow at 9pm. Though there is nothing I can do about the weather, such complications have really increased my frustrations lately. I specifically worked very hard early in the process so that we might be able to get in two or three full run-throughs with lights and sound, and now it looks like we might just get one. I am discouraged by the fact that because of poor planning on behalf of others, we are forced into such a difficult situation and our final product is ultimately being compromised. It’s unfortunate that the sense of professionalism that everyone involved with this show has tried to maintain is being washed away because of the faults of others. Anyway, there’s nothing I can do about it now except bite the bullet and pray that all of that early preparation will pay off. I just feel like we have bent so far on multiple occasions for the benefit of others and have gotten nothing in return except a lack of much needed preparation time.
